Accommodation Suggestions: 

San Diego is the 7th largest city in the US. You can find lots of hotels on Hotels.com or Orbitz.
UCSD is located  in the northern part of the city near La Jolla and there are only a few hotels 
relatively close to the campus. 

You need to make your own reservation directly. In most cases you can do this online.
